Finding the right practitioner can make all the difference. We invite you to get to know Sarah—her style, experience, the conditions she loves to treat, and the philosophy behind her care.
What inspired you to become an acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner?
-
The theory of Chinese medicine is common sense and based on nature metaphors. The skills and practice of Chinese medicine can help patients feel better right away. I’ve always wanted to be a doctor, and Chinese medicine just makes sense to me.
How long have you been practicing and how has your approach evolved over time?
-
I’ve been practicing herbal medicine for over a decade, and I earned my acupuncture license in 2019. I’m always trying to refine treatment strategies to be more effective. Many of my patients feel better; now I am trying to learn how to get them there faster.
What’s your philosophy on healing and long-term wellness?
-
Keep it simple! Good food, get enough sleep, nurture community and joy for your heart, move your body every day.
What conditions or concerns do you most enjoy treating?
-
I love to make custom herbal formulas! Herbs are great for almost anything you’d go to your regular doctor for:
-
issues with digestion including bloating, reflux, IBS, constipation and diarrhea, SIBO, etc.
-
metabolic issues like diabetes and thyroid issues, PCOS, and high cholesterol
-
problems with the immune system
-
hormone imbalance and supporting painful menstrual cycles, perimenopause, menopause, andropause
-
high blood pressure, low blood pressure, and circulation issues like Reynauds and POTS
-
the list goes on!
-
-
I also love treating all types of musculoskeletal-skeletal pain with dry needling because it’s relatively fast and easy, and patients often feel better right away.
If a patient is deciding between you and another acupuncturist, what would you want them to know?
-
I am an herbalist! I will use acupuncture and dry needling alone for basic neck pain, back pain, and joint pain, but for most other problems, I’ll prescribe a custom herbal formula along with acupuncture to get better and faster results.
Describe your treatment style in 3 words:
-
Common sense solutions.
What do you love most about being an acupuncturist/herbalist?
-
I love that I can help people. I love it when people leave the office feeling better.
What’s something you’ve learned from your patients?
-
“Normal” is a really wide spectrum, and whatever’s not “normal” is usually fine too. Disease doesn’t necessarily have to mean pain.
What do you enjoy doing outside the clinic?
-
I’m a musician and a gardener!
Where in New Orleans do you go when you want to relax and replenish?
-
Bayou Sauvage, Lincoln Beach, and my garden.
