Cupping

One-on-one acupuncture sessions will start with a Q&A session about your chief complaint and an in-depth personal health history. Your practitioner will use this information to form a treatment plan that will address both your chief complaint and a possible root cause for the imbalance.
Single-use needles that are thinner than a human hair are inserted and retained as you relax quietly or even fall asleep.

Medicine works best when treating both externally AND internally. Traditional Chinese formulas prescribed today were created hundreds of years ago and have stood the test of time because of their effectiveness. Taking herbs can be a good way to maintain progress in between appointments. We offer ready-made formulas as pills and tinctures and Grassroots Herbs can make a custom formula just for you from a library of Chinese herbs!

Often used as a complement therapy to an acupuncture treatment, cupping is performed on areas of the body experiencing pain, tightness or stagnate energy. This 4000 year old therapy creates micro-traumas to the skin and muscle layers which signal to the body a need for oxygen-rich blood flow and repair. It is common for painless red marks, called "sha", to linger for a few days to a week as the body repairs these areas.

Dry Needling

Microneedling

A palm-sized machine that produces an electric current is connected to acupuncture needles via alligator clips and wires. This machine (like a TENS unit) creates a gentle pulsing, vibrating, or tapping sensation. We use a "top of the line" electroacupuncture machine which can provide a stronger and more continuous stimulus than acupuncture without electricity. Electrical stimulation is known to increase the release of endorphins, enhancing pain relief and stress relief.

“Dry needling”, also called “ashi needling” in Chinese medicine, can treat all types of musculoskeletal pain. The needles might feel intense, but they shouldn’t feel sharp or painful.  Most people describe an achy, heavy, or twitchy sensation that can feel like relief, or “hurts so good”. After your treatment, you should notice an immediate improvement in pain and range of motion.  You may also feel "needle sore" for the day, but that will resolve and the benefits will remain.

Holistic Microneedling is a cosmetic treatment. Using a medical grade tool only available to professionals, microneedling causes micro-traumas on the top layer of the skin, nudging the body to induce collagen and elastin production. Monthly treatments may result in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin texture and tone, and decrease acne and scarring. Included with your treatment is a mini-acupuncture session to support the body's vitality and general health.
