Everyone's gearing up for the solar eclipse, happening this Monday, 4/8/2024. We'll only be able to see the Moon cover about 85% of the Sun at its peak here in New Orleans; nonetheless, this rare, powerful, celestial event is worth contemplating and witnessing!
Our Sun is omnipresent, gigantic, self-illuminating, and gaseous, representing YANG. Our Moon is transitory, tiny (400x smaller than the Sun), dense and solid, representing YIN. It's hard to imagine our "underdog" Moon standing up to the Sun.... DEMANDING to be seen, and for a few moments, it will indeed eclipse our giant star so that it vanishes from the sky! This phenomenon is no little feat!
This week, we invite you to look inward and apply this celestial event's wisdom on an individual level. What exists in your life right now that feels like an indomitable Sun that could never be put in shadow? Is there a relationship or job that takes and takes and never gives back? A lifelong habit or unhealthy cycle you've given up on breaking free of? Maybe a chronic issue that has grown to now affect your daily life, or a fictitious story you were taught about yourself that you've assumed to always be true?
When you look up in the sky on Monday (while wearing proper eclipse eye protection!!), contemplate this triumphant, grounding, YIN Moon energy and how you can use it to stand up to seemingly impossible things. What do you have control over? What do you not have control over? How can you resolve the two to find a new balance in your life?
